Kang-Dae wrapped her hand carefully, not wanting to cause her any further discomfort. Once he was done he stepped back and stared down at her. Her cheeks were slightly tinted red and she looked to be aggressively avoiding his gaze. Could it be she actually felt ashamed of her behavior? That was interesting, Usually the addled didn’t care about how their insane actions looked. He didn’t understand how she could seem so rational one moment and then completely disengaged from reality the next. It was what kept him wanting to hear about her delusions. Her adamance of its reality was not crazed, just factual from her perspective. It was almost alarming how normal she could make it sound, which led him to believe she may have just been a really good liar. So he had set up his little test.
“Is it really that bad for you here that you’d injure yourself like this?” He questioned unable to let go of what she’d done.
“I di-,” she began.
“What will you attempt next? Shall I keep you from anything remotely harmful lest you try to skewer yourself? Am I going to have to have you guarding every moment to keep you from doing something so foolish again?” With every word he became more angry at what she’d c done to herself though he couldn’t understand why.
“I thought-,” she tried again.
“Yes, you want to wake up. Has it occurred to you that the reason you’ve been unable to waken is because you are not dreaming? I admit I know very little about you but I assumed you had some level of intelligence!”
‘No, he did not just say that to me.’ Serenity had enough. Yes, she knew she didn’t come off looking exactly competent earlier, but she was in no mood to be talked down to by anyone especially someone who might very well be a figment of her imagination.
“Do you have any idea what it feels like to wake up in an unfamiliar place, tied up, cold, beaten, interrogated, held prisoner and have no idea why or how it happened?!” Serenity fumed her irritation and frustration with her entire situation overwhelming her. The prince didn’t say anything. He looked almost surprised she had dared to complain to him but that did not deter Serenity. “One minute I’m home, next I’m stuck here, where I’m locked up all day and forced to keep explaining myself to someone who repeatedly makes me question my sanity. I’m constantly being guarded by these guys who make me feel like they’re gonna kill me if I breath too loud. I am literally burning to death in all these clothes and I can’t even take a bath without someone hovering over me. So, you’ll have to excuse if I’m not taking it well!” Serenity took a few breaths to calm herself following her rant. It felt good to vent out her frustrations even just for a minute. She thought she might feel some form of regret for literally fussing at a prince but she just couldn’t bring herself to care. There was no response from him, which was fine with her. She didn’t want to hear another word from him at the moment.
“I’d like to go back to my room please.” If she expected some kind of fight, he didn’t give one. He gave into her request, without objection. Serenity believed he was finally writing her off, which made her feel disappointed and relieved at the same time.
